is "ultracet" still o.k. to take if it was prescribed back in 2003? i have a bunch of them.-help!!

No pharmacist will recommend taking medication that is prescribed that long ago.

In the pharmacy that I work in, our computer system gives an automatic expiration date of 1 year from the fill date, unless we manually go in and change that date.

Without seeing the 'actual' date of expiration, ie from the stock bottle, there is no way of knowing of when it truly expires.

Expired medication can cause adverse reactions when taken, and it will lose its potentcy after that date as well.

Please do not take it-it can do more harm than good.

Yes I think so because most stock bottles have an expiration date beyond 5 years in a pharmacy.

If you have kept it in the original container in a dry cool place, it should not harm you but it may have lost some of its potency. Smell it, as chemicals break down they have a stronger odor.

They are still safe; however, outdated medication tends to lose its potency.

self medication is harmful.....do consult a doctor b4 use
