I am only in St. Maarten for a day and would like to do some cool shopping and dining. I am aware of Front Street, any other suggestions?

The Greenhouse is my choice for dining in Philipsburg. It's located in Bobby's Marina and the food is international. If you like conch fitters, this is the place. Yummy. If you want to adventure away from Front street my other choice would be Pineapple Pete's also international type food. Or another option would be any restaurant in Grand Case on the french side of the island.

Shopping in downtown Philipsburg is a shoppers dream, tons of stores and restaurants . Not just Front Street. Jewelry stores, clothing, liquor and everything else you can think of. Many people like Rima Beach World for clothes. Pondfill Road in Philipsburg. There is a market in St Martin (french side) and they carry a lot of Rima's items but they are much more expensive. You don't say how many hours you have so it's hard to suggest.
Everyone loves to check out Orient Beach. They have a ton of good restaurants and bars there. Be aware it's a nudist beach.
If you have any specific questions, ask away.

Good Luck in your research.

You can not miss Orient beach. It is the most beautiful beach I have ever seen, and I am from the Caribbean. It is a nudist beach, but there are only a few who bare it all. White sands, pristine, clear blue waters, many restaurants and bars on the beach. It is a great spot!

if you have time go to Maho beach @ the airport and watch the planes come in. I know it sounds dull but they are literally 20-50 feet above your head. You will not see this anywhere else. go to you tube and type in sxm landings and you will see what i mean
