Yep. Just very, very unlikely.

Science is beginning to fill in all the holes where God might be hiding though.

And Speak Freely, no atheist I have ever seen has said they believe that God doesn't exist with 100% percent certainty. That would require faith, something we atheists simply don't have.
All we say is that no evidence for God exists, and and thus we see no reason to believe it exists at all. Just like you see no reason for the Easter Bunny, Thor, Wotan, or the Great Juju at the Bottom of the Sea to exist.

No. We never claimed to know everything. But your logic is faulty.

Let me use an analogy...

Do you believe there is a fine porcelain teapot orbiting Saturn? No? Let's assume that you know 50% of everything. Does that make it any more likely that the teapot is out there? No, it doesn't.

Yes, there is a possibility that God exists. Ok? I still don't believe he does. That possibility is about in line with the possibility that leprechauns, fairies, and Peter Pan exist. Sorry, but everything is possible. That doesn't make it any more likely.

On the other hand, there is much evidence that God is a man made fictional character. If you look at the history of religion and study human nature, you'd find plenty of evidence of people making gods up. The Christian god is no exception. But there is just no reason to think any particular god exists.

I don't know everything. However, I am not going to waste my time believing in some god if there is no evidence that supports the existence of such a god.

Same reason you don't believe in the flying spaghetti monster. You don't know everything either. So, using your argument, you do not know if the FSM is real or not. Now, using logic, and being a rational being, should you believe in this FSM if there is no evidence that supports its existence?

Your god and the FSM, same difference.

Good point. May I add that if God is the 50% of knowledge I don't know, then I all the Gods I know must not be real. Then that would mean that you and I are equally wrong.

There is a vanishingly low probability that a god exists - but that DOES mean there's a chance - albeit extremely small. Probably a lower chance than pigs flying... but a chance nonetheless.

No we don't know anything, but we;re smart enough to know that nothing is certain and no one knows 100% of the truth! And we are a hell of a lot less superstitious than you who believe whole heartily in things that have no basis in reality. You can't prove anything and we recognize that, why can't you?

Atheist does not claim to know everything. Can you prove there is God? or God knows everything? What if there are things he/she/it does not know, you will never know.

>Nobody, even the extremely intelligent, knows "everything"...therefore, even the dreaded "athiests" won't know everything.
Exactly what difference does it make anyway? Some believe in fairy tales, some don't. Too bad to waste a life worrying about such trivia...better to learn to spell (and think).<

I'm no atheist but one thing I do know is how to spell "atheists" and that you have no proof that your god is the right god. (ok that's 2 things I know)

Does this count as a Pascal's Wager question?

Nobody is 100% sure there is a God. Just because you have faith doesn't mean you have any proof of a God....you just believe.

Nobody knows everything either...if they say so....they're fools....like you're doing...at least trying to imply
