I've been playing cornet for four years, Considering switching to trumpet. I'm not sure what I should look for in a trumpet. Also, is a silver trumpet better?

I've been playing cornet for four years, Considering switching to trumpet. I'm not sure what I should look for in a trumpet. Also, is a silver trumpet better? Should I buy it online or from a local store?

Silver trumpets are not generally better, and they take more polishing than brass ones. Switching from cornet to trumpet is a good idea, as trumpets generally have better sound quality. Most brands are quality, and some affordable. Yamaha and jupiter are both affordable, but chances are your local music store will have a great selection at good prices. Good luck.

The first answer given by Bob was a good one. In addition to checking local music stores, here's a link you can check to see if there are any name brand instruments you recognize... sometimes you can get a great deal!
