It should be marked on your radio, at the place where you plug it in.
There should be a little symbol stamped on it that looks like the letter "C" with a line coming out of it. The end of the line should be marked "+" or "-", which tells you if it should be positive or negative.

More important than polarity is voltage: make sure you match the voltage correctly, or you will fry your radio.

If you want to find out the right way.. just visit a friend or an electyronic store and ask them to use a DC voltmeter. Usually the positive includes a red dot or the cable has a white line over it.

The other way is risky, just use a lower voltage and connect to the equipment. For example, iuf you have a 9 volt apparastus, just use 4 or 6 volts for an instant. if the thing lights up its LEDs..j\you got nit the right way, if not just reverse and try agan, for a second or so. Then just mark the right polarity and increase the voltage to the manufacturer recommended.

Keep in mind that you can fry your equipment if too sensitive or if it has no protection diodes to avoid that. Most dont.. and a diode is under 25 cents cost!

If I had to choose, I d get to a RADIO SHACK or so for help.
