Yes, only someone who is ignorant and discriminating wouldn't vote for them. Not voting for someone because of their beliefs is the exact same thing as not voting for someone because of their skin color or race even when they are qualified for the job. but now I'm only 15 so its not like I can vote, besides I think the government is too corrupted and there is no such thing as a politician who is completely honest and all for the people. That is just the world is which is sad to say. People need to learn to respect each other's beliefs and cultures.

I'm an independent so I don't have a preferred political party and yes I'd vote for an atheist if they were the most politically qualified candidate.

Well well well. I would only vote for this person if I felt that he/she would lead our country in the right direction. Many people are qualified for the job in terms of experience, atheist or not. I would need to see this person in a debate or grilled in an interview about their platform and current issues. That is what *I* would need to make a voting decision.

No....plenty of Christians are completely and totally qualified for the job. Seeing how an overwhelming majority of Americans claim a belief in God I don't see how your fictional atheist could relate to them. So, your "atheist" in actuality is totally unqualified to lead this country. Maybe they should try Russia or China...

Of course that is my opinion!!!

Of course, I want the most qualified person doing the job, I don't care what party they are with.

If s/he were completely qualified and if his/her positions on my most important issues were similar, and if I was reasonably certain that s/he wouldn't steal too much, then I'd gladly vote for such a person, regardless of party.

Then again, I'm an atheist and I don't expect to see this within my lifetime.

I would if they were qualified. I would vote for someone of any religion if they were the best for the job. unfortunately many people wouldn't, that makes me sad. The fact that people are so closed minded

Yes.

Religion is never a factor in my voting.

Honesty is, though. John Kary pretended to be religious while running for president by doing some photo ops of him going to church. (He did the same thing with going hunting and wind surfing.) That tells me that he doesn't have a problem lying when it serves his purposes.

George Bush, on the other hand, is a relgious man and didn't have to pretend to be just to get elected.

A lot would depend on their agenda.

There are some who are in the party I generally vote for, that would not get my vote, unless their competitor is so revolting to my conscience.

yes I would... religion or non-religion does not matter to me, aslong as they are totally qualified and will be the best one for the job.. I do not base my choices on their religion or lack of religion. It might be good to get someone w/out just christian views in office.
