I'm currently taking Wellbutrin 150 XL (an antidepressant). I know it says on the bottle not to take alcohol while on the drug and I know many other prescription drugs are like that too.

But would it be ok to drink, probably just on one occasion. What exactly are the reasons they say not to consume alcohol and are there any serious dangers or risks if i do it just one time?

Thank you in advance

it tends to amplify the effects of the meds.depending on your body it could make you pass out or it could cause you to go through stages of rage.

Yes, there can be serious dangers. Wellbutrin effects your respiratory system, adding alcohol which is a depressent, causes your breaths to be shallow and lacking in oxygen, you basically go to sleep and don't wake up. There could be damage to your kidneys and liver, as they are both trying to filter the alcohol and the Wellbutrin. Is this one occasion really worth the risk?

Not all drugs are tested for all possible side effects anymore

Some with alcohol can drop your blood pressure to a dangerously low level

It is taking a risk on you're part. Many things can happen, there is no specific menu for it depends on the human body, we're all different.
A Client of mine did, her reaction was, having a stroke, not in her head(lucky for her), but all her blood vessels in the face " BURST" and now she has broken vessels all over her face(spider veins) It's not very attractive and a constance reminder of her "stupidity" (her word)
Sometimes we can get a way 99 times but on the 100th YOU'RE OUT OF LUCK! Is it worth it???????????

liver damage.. kidney damage, stomach ulcers.. list goes on and on :) just depends on what you take specifically, and the reaction it has with alcohol, there is no universal standard as to what is effected but the ones I listed are the most common :P
