it depends on your tolerance level for pain. I had it done and there was absolutely no pain, i was even able to eat afterwords and my tongue didn't even swell. personally if you could take the belly ring you are in the clear! (no i'm not one of those people who love pain!) I just know i have a high tolerance to it Good Luck!!!!!

It hurts some but it's pretty quick.. if you're really scared, get it numb-ed. I got it the spray numb on the top of my tongue and they clamped it and I shut my eyes and was squeezing my sister's hand and all of a sudden I felt a sharp, quick pain at the bottom of my tongue (I thought they had just started and were going bottom to top through) but instead they were finished and then you're just in shock, and they slip the ring through as they are pulling the piercing needle out. Then your tongue swells - suck ice. Mostly it just feels weird to have something in your tongue (when your not used to that) and it's swollen, puffs up to a large size, like the whole ring will be covered by your swollen tongue... But it's over and done with VERY quickly.. At Zebra in Berkeley CA, back in the day it was like $50.. but places vary the price.

A tongue piercing hurts more than your belly. But if you can handle the belly piercing than your fine. Just be sure you eat before you get it pierced because if you don't you might faint and etc. The place where i got my piercings made us drink a can of soda after. EAT before you get it done because you can't really eat after, your tongue will be swollen. The only thing you can really eat is soup because everything else is too hard until it heals. You have to use listerine [mouthwash]

Ive had my tounge pierced going on 6 years now. And I wont say it hurt when I got it done, the needle just felt weird. I had my friends holding my hands. Take someone with you.The after effects are worse then the actual piercing. Your tounge is heavy and you gotta put food all the way into the back off your mouth cause its kinda hard to chew. Also you might have a lil extra saliva produced since your tounge is so heavy. Just keep a washcloth or tissues around. Hope this helps you.

My son had it done and yes it does hurt for a few days. You have to eat soup, jello ect.......... You have to take care of it by rinsing your mouth with listerine or another antiseptic mouthwash.
