To be on the track team you need to run farther, and at least 5 days per week. One mile 3 times a week is not much at all.

To boost your endurance, you should work up to 5 miles from where you are. That means that every day you have to run farther than the daybefore until you reach 5 miles.

As a 14 year old girl, I would think that you should be able to do 5 miles in about 40 minutes without too much difficulty once you work up 5 mile runs.

It will help quite a lot in keeping you from getting any internal injuries. It does help increase your endurance after maybe one week. To see results, maybe one month. You should be quite good by then. But you must be very regular in your running schedule. I personally can run 1 mile in 5-6mins. But because I didn't train, I suffer internal injuries now.
