several of wiccan holidays were stolen by christians and turned into christian holidays. or shall I say pagan holidays. I have already stoped celebrated the holidays as christian holidays. example the only part of christmas I celebrate are gifts for kids.. no christmas tree, no lights, no santa, etc....

I do understand what you are saying, I would like to be able to celebrate my religions (wicca) holidays for what they are and not reprisenting christianity. Everything has been taken over by christianity and the only time a pagan holiday is celebrated are in some places they hold pagan festivals...

I know when the pagan holidays are and I usually do a special ritual on that day...

EDIT: toosense.... You need to do a little research on this country as well as the christian religion. America was not founded on christian principles. The christian GOD is not even mentioned in the DOI.. If you want to get technical about it, if you go and read the DOI you will see that it only mentions the "law of nature and natures god" how often do you hear of the christian god being known as natures god?

It is simply because most of the people who come into this forum are either Christian or Muslim, and neither give any credence to the beliefs of others. Its discrimination, plain and simple.
I simply write in Yule on Christmas, Samhain on Halloween, Imbolc for groundhogs day and so on... Good question by the way.

I have been wondering that also, but put it down to the fact that with all the Sabbats, there isn't really a need to list them, when we can just post about them in the holiday category.

Still, it does seem a little biased, now that someone brings up the topic...

Actually, that's a halfway decent question. Most calendars show christmas, easter, channuka, Rosh Hashanna, Yom Kippur, even Al Eid. So maybe the esbats and sabbats should too.

Start a letter writing campaign to the various calendar publishers.

I'm sure if you found the right Yahoo! person to complain to they'd stick em up there. Alas, we are sadly few and far between it would seem. It'd be nice though, I suppose. I can already see the first question: "What the *$^% is a Samhain????"

There are. They seem to have been misspellled tho.

Candlemas - Christmas
Ostara -Easter
All Hallows Eve - Halloween

Half the wheel is represented, now if we can just get public holidays for Beltaine and Samhain......

dang, that is sad that they arent listed. Don't you hate discrimination. I would consider myself agnostic but I love paganism and have studied it. I wish other people would. Maybe we can stop the world from being so closed minded (like that will ever happen)

Our country was founded on Christian principles. For many years witches were hunted down and killed. Most of the pagan religions are not well recognized in the US today. At 13 you really do not know very much about life, but you do know enough to choose between right and wrong. You are choosing wrong over right and that will lead you to your ultimate eternal destruction regardless of what you think. Don't ever say you were not warned.
