Enlightment in other words NIRVANA according to the buddhism can be achieved. You will accomplish NIRVANA once you overcome Time and atmosphere, to overcome time and atmosphere you need spiritual escape velocity (can be achieved by meditating). NIRVANA is a different dimension which exists way above time and atmosphere; therefore we don't have words or thoughts to explain what it is. (coz our words and thoughts are only capable of explaining the dimension we live in which is time and atmosphere) when you reach nirvana it's the eternal state of mind therefore once you reach nirvana eventually your body will die but your mind will be free from your body and it will be free from time and atmosphere. so you won't be born again,

that's my opinion about this question I would love to hear other ppl’s opinions so pls feel free to share your idea.

There is a true enlightenment that comes only through the knowledge of the uncreated eternal Light, as it is written:
"And this is the message we have heard from Him and announce to you, that God is Light, and in Him there is no darkness at all." (I John 1:5)
"And this is the judgment, that the Light is come into the world, yet men loved the darkness rather than the light, because their deeds were evil." (John 3:19)
So then: "Watch out, that the light in you may not be darkness." (Luke 11:35)
"If therefore the light that is in you is darkness, how great is that darkness!" (Matthew 6:23)

Nirvāṇa (Devanagari निर्वाण, Pali: Nibbāna निब्बान -- Chinese: 涅槃; Pinyin: nièpán, Japanese: 涅槃, nehan, Korean: 열반, yeol-bhan, Thai: Nibpan นิพพาน ), is a Sanskrit word that literally means extinction (as in a candle flame) and/or extinguishing (i.e. of the passions).

It is a mode of being that is free from mind-contaminants (Kilesa) such as lust, anger or craving. It is thus a state where all passions and emotions are stilled- the end of suffering, or Dukkha. The Buddha in the Dhammapada says of Nirvāṇa that it is "the highest happiness." This is not the sense-based happiness of everyday life, nor the concept of happiness as interpreted by Western culture, but rather an enduring, transcendental happiness integral to the calmness attained through enlightenment.

The Buddha describes the abiding in Nirvāṇa as 'deathlessness' (Pali: amata or amaravati) or 'the unconditioned' and as the highest spiritual attainment, the natural result that accrues to one who lives a life of virtuous conduct in accordance with Dharma. Such a life (called Brahmacarya in India) dissolves the causes for future becoming (Skt, Karma; Pali, Kamma) that otherwise keep beings forever wandering through realms of desire and form (samsara).

There are many synonyms for Nirvāṇa, as shown by the following passage:

World Honored One, the ground of fruition is bodhi, Nirvāṇa, true suchness, the Buddha-nature, the amala-consciousness, the empty treasury of the Thus Come One, the great, perfect mirror-wisdom. But although it is called by these seven names, it is pure and perfect, its substance is durable, like royal vajra, everlasting and indestructible. (Surangama Sutra IV 207)

that seems to be a very good description of how it was meant to be understood, and how i have understood it. i think enlightenment could also be said to be the end of suffering and the complete understanding of what causes suffering...but also it is more similar to heaven or being one with god, both are fantasies, impossible ideas and goals we set for ourselves so we can always be trying to be better people, it is the journey to these unrealistic goals that is the most important thing, not ever actually getting there

I think enlightenment is something within you that recognizes an answer to a question you asked to no one, but had always wondered about. Very often, for me, remembering that I had asked the question causes within me a deep stillness so vast it is exhilarating and scary at the same time.

Enlightenment can be acheived through meditation. With every act I perform, I meditate. Therefore, I acheive Enlightenment.

One way to put it is enlightenment knows ignorance, but ignorance does not know enlightenment, that isn't quite right but close. You will know yourself & by knowing yourself you will know all things. Your right it is not time bound, but I don't understand what you mean about atmosphere.

enlightenment is made out to be some distant goal, i think it is something much more easy and achievable - eg. if you clear your mind and come to peace with yourself you will find love in your heart... and you will always be happy (or at least content)

enlightenment is after youve spent 10 years or so practicing one thing a piano for example, then that very moment you sit down and play.....when your hands touch the keys and you know for a fact you can play your *** off.
