I think is because the don't want to touch the dirty tap on public rest rooms. People are really conscious about that.

At least I use a napkin for the tap, it makes no sense to clean your hands and then get someone else's pee on your fingers. Those infrared automatic on-off taps are even better.

The truth is that public bathrooms are not very clean; near home there is Kmart and their rest rooms are really nasty, they make millions and they can't hire a guy to keep it clean.

Yes but do you ever eat bowls of nuts, mints etc left on bars or restaraunts? There have been some horrific studies done on what they find at the bottom of those bowls. I usually wash my hands and then put on my gloves before touching the handles, same on buses, trains, etc. I also carry wipes in my bag and use them if I don't have my gloves with me. It would be so much easier if people just washed and I don't know why they don't. Especially with all the super-bugs floating around.

It's disgusting!

After I wash my hands, I get a hand towel from the dispenser then open the door with that, if no hand towels, I take some extra toilet paper, I may look weird (yes I suffer from depression) but who cares?

I have told many work colleagues and friends and they think this is acceptable! Cos they do it also!

I agree with you that there is a large majority of people that don't wash their hands and it is quite disturbing. I always wash and then I use a paper towel to open the door and I discard of it in a garbage outside of the restroom usually.

Their - not there. And restaurant. But English lesson over, I agree. It is a matter of basic training to wash your hands after going to the loo. The naughty answer is don't p**s on your hands!
The Romans never had soap, but they managed OK, so I think you will survive.....

it isnt just the people that dont wash their hands, it is people that dont wash them well enough....30 seconds with SOAP and water..so many people just give them the rinse and think that is good enough

also...what about people that blow their nose?? do they wash their hands?? personally i think in public places and universities, and elem and high schools should have the waterless hand sanitizer freely available...this I think would GREATLY reduce the transfer of pathogens from person to person...of course handwashing is the best, but studies have shown that becasue people are so bad at washing their hands, hand sanitizer is hands down the best to use...people are more concerned with speed and getting in and getting out, they dont take the time..

I personally do, because i am in the heath care field and I have over time become aware of washing my hands more, but with the introduction of antibiotic resistent organisms and the potential other viruses such as the H5N1 that is expected to come eventually and make lots of ppl sick, i sure do hope more people become more conscious about washing their hands..to not only protect themselves but those they love

Yes, but I have also noticed that many public rest rooms don't offer the basics like soap and towels anymore.
