cats are solitary animals, unlike dogs, so your cat sleeping by you is a sign that he/she loves you very very much. Any animal is more vulnerable when they're asleep, so your kitty feels safe around you.

Because you're warm and the closeness reminds her/him of snuggling against mama cat as a baby, how comfortable and calming that always was. Whenever my cats have had something disturbing happen (like a small earthquake, or when I went away on vacation for a week, or after a visit to the vet), I know if we just go take a nap together they immediately calm down and go back to being their normal happy selves.

I've heard Siamese cats described frequently as "doglike", but I disagree. If anything, I think Siamese are the most "feline" of all cats.
They're incredibly attuned to their owners' sensitivites and one of the most intelligent of all cat breeds. I do believe that all cats in general, and Siamese in particular, possess a sixth sense; your cat seems to be sensing when you are about to awaken.

Your cat likes you. Loves you, even. I had a cat like that. She got real old then died, I miss her. Her favorite thing was just spending time with me, whatever I was doing. She was a wonderful cat, there has to be a heaven for cats and dogs as loving as that.

Because cats and dogs are all very loyal creatures and they will follow you everywhere! Your cat loves you. Your cat loves attention and affection, loves to be petted, loves to be fed, etc.
My cats follow me to the bathroom, and when I close the door in their face, they put their paws under the door. They are funny and they have a huge sense of humor. I love my cats.

so are my two cats - be by my side on my bed when i wake up (or they wake me up). Your cat is very attached to you is what it means. :)
