The term dirt is metaphorical here, for the earth. We are made up of the four elements of this earth. Simple.

God took dirt and created humanity--he then gave them dominion over the earth. Why does dirt have to disappear. When God blew the breath of life into man--they became a new creation. You have a choice-- to accept-- or deny-- these things.

Some dirt became sufficiently isolated from the larger population of dirt and was exposed to different environmental stressors. The general populous went on as before.

The dirt did not just turn into human beings. God formed Adam out of the dust with his hands. Read Genesis to find out.

The usage of earth was a one time act to form the physical body of mankind, depicting man's right to represent God's kingdom in the earth. Of course, that was screwed up since the beginning of time and much of what we see and experience isn't godly at all. however, that's why Jesus Christ was sent; to reintroduce the kingdom. God's way of being, and doing right. Read the gospels and letters.
