i would make him go anyways, i am sure someone will let him use there mit, your his parent, i would think you would know what to do, you should not have to ask, its called being responsible, hes part of a team. and for sure i would not let a 12 year old set the rules, if he does not want to be responsible ground him, take away the things he likes to do the most, playstation, friends for the night, things like this.

and i am sorry i do not agree it is all your responsiblity to watch his glove, he is equally responsible to know where his things are, he is not 2 years old anymore

Did he lose his favorite glove or something? You should treat it like any other time he loses something he loves - if he loves baseball he will get over it - and will ask (or you can offer) to get a new glove. If he hates the game or only does it cause he thinks he has to - then he may not go back. No need to "deal" with him.. just figure out what he wants and help him.

Just make sure he realizes if he decides not to go then he should quit the team so they can replace him - it's not fair to his team to wonder where he is and not have a replacement. Don't let him change his mind constantly - he has to decide to stay or go - can't be wishy washy - it just hurts all the other kids on the team.

If he's behaving like a 5 yr old throwing temper tantrums about a silly glove, then you should ignore it and tell him when he's prepared to act his age you can come up with a solution.

I agree the best thing to do with sports is to go to EVERY practice. Tell him the one day you miss there could be some important ideas.

Tell him the coach will probably give him one to use for the practice.

He should have his own glove at some point.

Ask the coach if he has any old ones you can buy?

Also, tell him old gloves are better than new gloves, because they are broken in better.

I would not force him to go and I would tell the coach his exact reason for not going. Better yet let him tell the coach. . At the next game coach might just want to sit him out for not showing up for practice.
In all fairness catching hurts without a glove. He could at least go , maybe someone will lend him one for the night. Good luck Mom lol been there done that!

My 6 365 days. previous (would be 7 in July) in basic terms began Tee-Ball and he's a similar way. not each and all of the youngsters are as *bouncy* as he's, yet a super sort of the youngsters do goof around. The coaches do not placed any stress on it at this age, each and all of the youngsters get of undertaking to hit, there is no outs. They comprehend that at this age maximum toddlers don't have the attention span to play the sport heavily and roll with it. My older 2 have been a similar way at this age and now they attempt their desirable and love the sport. as long as your son is having as lots relaxing as mine is than he's fascinated! In a 365 days or 2 if he loves the sport he will pay extra interest and quickly you have gotten a lil baseball celeb.

Many children get attached to their own things (such as a baseball glove) and are uncomfortable without it. Maybe he would be embarassed if he lost his. Some kids just need to learn how to be more flexible!

why is it so important that he goes to baseball practice? has he decided to become a professional baseball player already? I dont see how this will hurt him not to go to baseball practice. Not like he isn't going to church or going to school.

Don't take him. Most leagues have a policy that if you miss so many practices you miss the game. Once he misses a game, maybe he'll change his mind. If he doesn't change his mind, then maybe there needs to be a reassessing of priorities.

Good luck
