To our knowledge, he is a third-generation finger sucker! This is almost a genetic trait, and he's done it since birth. I've tried everything, except I heard there's this substance you can paint on fingernails that tastes bad and isn't toxic. What is it?

Dip the fingers in vinegar. The next time they suck them they'll taste like vinegar ... ick! Mom used to do that when she wanted us to stop sucking our thumbs.

The only problem with that is that they can pick it off, my nine year old is a nail bitter. You can buy it at Wal-Mart. I was a thumb sucker and I don't think there is much you can do. You could try making him was his hands every time he sucks on his fingers. Good luck.

That stuff worked for my nephew but it does not work for all children. I cannot remember what it is called but you can ask the pharmisist he she will know, or there are home remedies in the health food stores as well.
