Recently, I have injured my back somehow...going to the doctors tomorrow. Lower back in a lot of pain when I move, bend, or lift my legs. MY QUESTION IS: Lately, my hands keep going numb whenever I rest, no matter what position I get in. Does anyone know if the numbness could be linked to whatever is going on in my back?? It's just driving me crazy!

You may have a cervical spine (neck) nerve compression, which may be the problem with your back, too. Nerves from the cervical spine are responsible for your neck, shoulders, arms and hands. Lower spine nerves run down your hips and legs. You may have herniated discs, so mention the problem with your hands to your doctor, too. Hope you feel better, I know it's miserable. I have the same problem, mine is from herniated cervical discs.

You probably have a pinched nerve in your spine which causes your hand to go numb. That's why you're in a lot of pain. Remember to tell the doctor.

Since you're dealing w/lower back pain, I would tend to believe it's unrelated. Also, since you mentioned the numbness occurs during inactivity or while lying down, it sounds like it's a circulatory problem. Consult the doc when you go in just to be sure.

Yes it could be. If you've pinched a nerve somewhere in your back or neck you'd be surprised how many places you could be affected. Go to a chiropractor or osteopath & get your back realigned, and then see how you feel. Maybe the osteo might be better in your situation because they're in between a physio & chiro, so whether it's muscular or skeletal they should be able to help you.

You could have pinched a nerve in your back at it is reducing circulation to your fingers... more likely, it is your heart that is the culprit, though

it sounds like carpel tunnel, which is caused by over use of the hands which cuts off the nerve, I have it because I have typed and I sew all the time.
