and does it herlp putting it in the fridge? or does this slow the process down?

Put an apple in the bag to speed the process. Apples emit a gas that speeds the ripening process of bananas. They should be ripe overnight.
And putting them in the fridge, i have found, makes them mushy.

I have a magical counter here at home.
I can put the greenest banana's you can ever find on my counter, and in a few days, they're almost way over ripe and almost ready to throw out LOL.

It depends on how green they were when you bought them.
The paper bag works- 2 days if they were REALLY GREEN.
no- the fridge will just bruise them, and they will turn black after an hour-
the bag actually makes them ripen quicker-that means they will be sweeter when you eat them. you can eat them green if you want, but they wont have much flavor.

Black bananas gross me out!...Even if they are fine inside...yuck!...Just on the counter is fine for bananas...If you want to ripen them a couple days in a paper bag is plenty.

the best way of keeping bananas that I have found is to place them into a paper bag and put in fridge, they will keep longer but the skin will go black - don't worry the fruit inside will be fine
