In all major religions, the followers strive to rid themselves of sin through various practices. They may pray in a prescribed way, do various good works, deny themselves legitimate sexual pleasure, follow dietary restrictions, lie on beds of nails, etc. The uniqueness of Jesus is shown in His statement, "The Son of Man has power on earth to forgive sins." No other religious leader has ever made this claim. Jesus Christ alone can wash away every sin anyone has ever committed, be-cause of what He did on the cross. By paying the penalty for our sin, He can release us from the torture of guilt. We cannot do anything in the way of religious works to wash away our sins. Forgiveness is a free gift of God (Ephesians 2:8,9).

You make it sound like people can do what ever they want because Jesus will forgive them. I understand what you are saying, but according to christian tradition, one must be baptized, receive the Eucharist, and accept Jesus before their sins will be forgiven, i was raised christian and this is what was always taught, and just because you believe your sins will be forgiven, it does not mean that you should not go out of your way to do good here on earth, the golden rule Jesus proclaimed, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." — Jesus (ca. 5 BCE—33 CE) in the Gospels, Matthew 7:12, Luke 6:31, Luke 10:25.. does not simply state that you can do what you want and will be forgive, or even that you should do no sins and go to heaven, you must actively go out of your way help others

HI David,
I am a Christian and I believe that Jesus Christ alone has the power on earth to forgive our sins. One of your answers above say that is all we need to have our sins forgiven is to repent. I disagree with that. We are supposed to Read, Study, and Obey the New Testament commands. We have a number of things that are wqritten in the scriptures for us to follow. We are not forgiven just because... Have a great evening and a wonderful Lord's Day!
Thanks,
Eds

It tells the truth! Yeah God! Jesus I love You!
But let us be very clear, while we do not need to do works to wash our sins away, because it does not happen that way, our works reflect the transformation of spirit which has taken place in our lives through the power of Jesus Christ and His perfect sacrifice.

I really have no response to this article as I am Wiccan and do not beleive Jesus Christ is a/the god. I think he existed but he was simply a religious man in the early times. Christians have had problems with us in the past but we have never held there religion against them.
I mean, everyone knows the story of the black woman who was kicked out of her seat simply becuase she was black well I have several stories of people being kicked out of stores and restaurants because he/she wore a pentacle around her neck. (A pentacle or pentagram is generally a 5-point star with a circle around it.) Now tell me people. Is a circle and a star more offensive then a dying man nailed to a cross?
I have nothing against the christian religion but i wish they'd leave our religion alone. Why discriminate us just because we are a group of Witches?

well actually i have met a large number of people that would not know the word sin and i try to think like they do.... innocent. Ever seen a baby pray to god without being told that they couldn't eat first. or being dragged to church till they go without argument... and guess what as a child i would begin screaming as soon as i entered one of the evil buildings worshiping whatever god type you like. An yes my religion does not use christian morals now because i was never welcomed into one. so no sins to beg forgiveness for also go to china and hang out majority of population = no religion...

No, I do not accept the idea of "original sin", the notion that we are tainted from birth and intrinsically bad, as does Christianity. Thus, we do not need "saving". I don't believe in this ludicrous notion of begging a God to forgive you for your wrongs. If you've wronged someone, it's your job to make amends with that person.

Unlike you, were you Christians say you're sorry and accept Jesus, and poof, you're magically cleansed. There's no easy fix for Asatru. If we screw up, it's our fault. There's no one else we can blame: it falls squarely on our shoulders.

Similarly, if you dig yourself into a hole, you have to dig yourself out of it. No one's going to come along and give you a blood-covered 'get out of Hell free' card. You have to make amends for your wrong-doings, you have to take responsibility.

First and foremost, I do not believe in God. What you should do is not do bad things in the first place. Having the opportunity to be forgiven just encourages more and more sin. Don't say something like, "What if your parents never forgave you for something," because you already have been punished for that. Unless you are a spoiled brat, of course. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction, and this applies to morality too.

Forgive me if I sound harsh, I'm in a hurry to type this.

Does nonsense truly no longer belong interior the category of Philosophy? in accordance to my computer Oxford American Dictionary, Zeno turned right into a "Greek logician [and] member of the Eleatic college [who] defended Parmenides' theories by formulating paradoxes that appeared for instance the impossibility of action." Zenos maximum popular pardox said that it became conceivable to pass infinitely in the route of an merchandise without ever achieving it, by in simple terms persevering with to pass one 0.5 the finest distance. that is both obviously nonsense and obviously interior the right realm of philosophy, which derives from the Greek "love of expertise" no longer "reason." expertise is to do not forget that we are granted the loose will to trust as we commit to trust. I hesititate to say that i go with to doubt, i'd favor to say i ask your self. So i'd answer the hypothetical question: Uhhhh... hey, God. Is that really you?
