Im remodeling a house and theres some nasty carpet that Im removing and finshing the hardwood floors, wall paper that Im removing and painting the walls and old wood trim that needs refinished (Im not painting the trim, Im staining or just protecting) my question is should I finish the floors before I decide on the exact color of the walls and what shade to make the trim? to me it makes more sense to start at the top and work my way down so if theres any mishaps on the floor I will not have to redo the floor! thank you so much!

decide on the wall colors and trim first, paint/stain walls and trim, then concentrate on your floor.you don't need to remove the carpet first, it will serve as a good drop cloth until you are ready to do the floors. good luck.

Most definitely, do the walls first. If you leave the cruddy carpet in for now you might even be able to get away with not using a drop cloth. Probably not though, those hardwood floors need to be carefully maintained, and some older houses have carpeting put on over more hardwood, so it may be best to tear out the bad carpet, see what you've got down there, then do the walls and such, with new carpeting as the final step.

I would finish all the painting first before doing anything on the floor. That way you don't have to cover the floor anymore.

i would remove the carpet, but wait to redo the floor until ever thing Else is done,,, but there is things that you can put down over the floor, so not to mess it up
