I hate to say it, but that's partially true. Jello is made out of boiled tissue such as skin, cartilage, and bones obtained from animals. But that doesn't mean it's made out of pig. They just use the tissue to get the proteins that makes Jello all jello-ey.

The gelatin in Jell-O comes from the collagen in cow or pig bones, hooves, and connective tissues. To make gelatin, manufacturers grind up these various parts and pre-treat them with either a strong acid or a strong base to break down cellular structures and release proteins like collagen. The resulting mixture is boiled, and as the collagen breaks down, the resulting product, gelatin, is easily extracted because it forms a layer on the surface of the boiling mixture.

well there is a "jello" made out of cow hoofs. its not jello but rather looks like jello!! I love it!!! It tastes great!!! The cow hoofs are boiled until they become jellowish!! The bones are then taken out and left with the meat, put in the refrigirator to cool off. it sound digusting but it tastes great!!!! I have tried it before and you should give it a try!!

Pigs don't have hooves, silly.
Gelatin USED to be derived from all kinds of beef and pork 'by-products', but mostly now it's synthesized from vegetable matter.
yum!
