David danced for God. Are you dancing to make out with a boy or girl or are you dancing in the Spirit?

i have been dancing since i could walk and i speak to God every morning , every night, and often in between. ya know what? God has never said to me, don't dance. God gave me a natural rythem and a love of dance so i can only assume he is not against dancing. after all, where is the sin? dancing is a show of joy, not a sinful act against the Lord.

I've been looking for those instances where dancing ended with catastrophe. Those that did were not associated with praise and worship to God. I am finding however;

Exodus 15:19-21
19 For the horses of Pharaoh went with his chariots and his horsemen into the sea, and the LORD brought back the waters of the sea upon them. But the children of Israel went on dry land in the midst of the sea.
20 Then Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took the timbrel in her hand; and all the women went out after her with timbrels and with dances. 21 And Miriam answered them:
“Sing to the LORD, For He has triumphed gloriously! The horse and its rider He has thrown into the sea!”

2 Samuel 6:13-15
13 And so it was, when those bearing the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, that he sacrificed oxen and fatted sheep. 14 Then David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was wearing a linen ephod. 15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting and with the sound of the trumpet.

Psalm 149:2-4
2 Let Israel rejoice in their Maker;
Let the children of Zion be joyful in their King.
3 Let them praise His name with the dance;
Let them sing praises to Him with the timbrel and harp.
4 For the LORD takes pleasure in His people;
He will beautify the humble with salvation

Exodus 15:20-21

God is a huge fan of dance. As with so many things, it is your reason for dancing and whether or not you are honoring Him when you do.

Did you know that in every reference in the Bible to dancing the dancing ended with some sort of catastrophe. There is a lot of evil associated with dancing. God tells us to flee from sensuality and dancing is certainly an associated with that.

I have seen people dance in the Spirit, and that's OK. I think that worldly dancing is sensual and could lead to lust, therefor not OK with God.

I should think he likes most of it, although there are probably some kinds dancing (seen mostly in dance clubs) where he averts his eyes and says, "Oh, get a room!"

I hope you will forgive me for telling a wonderful story here instead of answering your question directly but I think you will get the point.

One day as I walked with Jesus, He took me back over the journey of my life as footprints in the sand.

During the first part of my life, I saw but a single set of footprints. They seldom walked a straight line but were all over the place. I asked Jesus, why? He said, My child, when you were without me, you knew no direction for your life.

During the middle part of my walk on the beach, suddenly I saw two sets of footprints. They were straight for the most part but once in a great while seperated for a moment or two. Again, I asked Jesus why? He said, My child, this is where I have come to walk with you. For the most part you followed the path correctly but once in a great while, you would falter but you always came back.

During the next phase of my life, Jesus showed me that at this time I was terribly tormented by trouble and illness and I was surprised when I saw only one set of footprints in the sand. Again, I asked why? He said: My child, when you were at your lowest point, I picked you up and carried you.

During the last phase of my life, I saw the two sets of footprints again, walking straight and true but suddenly, my set of footprints disappeared. Seeing this, I was frightened. But before I could ask Jesus what had happened, my footprints once again appeared but this time the two sets of footprints were all over the place in a jumble of disarray. "Oh no" I said. "In my final days I will stop walking with you?" I was heartbroken as I had come to love our journey together. Turning to me with a gentle smile and laying his hand on my shoulder, Jesus said: "This is where we danced.".

Do all in the way Jesus would have you do it. Dancing itself is not sinful unless your purpose in doing it is sinful. Jesus loves you.
