Yes, it is. I had the unfortunate experience of seeing this for myself in LACounty Jail. At first, I thought the woman was just being dramatic, upset at being in a locked cell and acting out. But she truly was a claustrophobic and watching and hearing her agony as the hours dragged slowly on and on was truly horrifying and deeply saddening. By the time the doctor came to see her condition, she was a mess.

depends on what they did..... if they are really claustrophobic..... need psychiatrist and if they are a menace to society or themselves....... where do you want them?????? can be called torture if not watched carefully. if seriously mentally ill, should not be done. should be in hospital. unless he is a pervert or a murderer. then who cares

the rooms in jails are huge and open i have never been there but my body is a cop and i have seen community jail in los angeles

It seems it would be. But then maybe one would get used to it? I don't know. I would just try to not get myself in jail.
