Canberra is the Capital of Australia. It is inland, southwest of Sydney in the Australian Capital Territory which is completely surrounded by the State of New South Wales. By road it is about 270km from Sydney down the Hume and Federal Highways. It is a freeway just about all the way.

Canberra, Land locked territory in The Australian Capital territory.
Approximately 6-7 hours drive from Melbourne, and 3 hours drive from Sydney. It has a man made lake called Lake Burley Griffin. It is named after the man who won the competition to name the capital.
It houses Parliament, and Defence Force Headquarters. It is also home to the Defence Force Acadamy, and Military COllege.
Mostly a city of public servants
