What's the term for a fabric covering for a chair to protect from hair oils that sounds like "adamacasser."

Our grandmothers used these to protect their upholstery (sofas and chairs) from the oils men used in their hair. They were called something I remember they were called something like "adamacasser." What's the real name/spelling?

Anti-maccassar. Maccassar was the oil they used in their hair. Greasy!
