there is an organisation called transcendental meditation - most famous for asking a lot of money for lessons.

transcendental meditation is also a general term for meditation that takes your awareness to a place where you don't notice what's going on in the world around you. There are also meditations that are about finding peace while keeping awareness of the world.

Transcendental meditation is basically about slowly withdrawing your awareness further and further inside - at first you notice everything around you, then you just notice your body, then you just notice certain energies in your body ... etc. going more and more inward until you find ..something.. (or the great nothingness perhaps)

The downside of this approach is that often when you finish meditating and go into worldly action you tend to lose a lot of what you found in the meditation. I prefer the other path of expanding awareness rather than contracting awareness. (not transcendental)

you slowly expand your awareness to be aware of everything at once - feelings, thoughts, sounds... etc. eventually being aware of the wholeness of everything. Then when you go into action and finish your meditation, you can still see the world like that, and keep the peace you find.

the basic idea of transcendental meditation is that the world is not real, and not really worthy of your attention. Only god is real, and by withdrawing from the world you can focus entirely on god. And become more and more like god yourself.

As for teaching there are schools and ways of teaching, but in my opinion the basic requirements for a teacher are about 10 years of practicing it yourself.

First of all, we must try to understand what the transcendental platform is. As far as our present condition is concerned, we are on various platforms. So we have to first of all stand on the transcendental platform; then there can be a question of transcendental meditation.
In Bhagavad gita as it is, in the six chapter Lord Krishna explain how transcedental meditation shoul be practice.
Here read it by yourself.

I don't know about that, but I can hypnotize you so that you won't need Novocaine the next time you go to the dentist.

You can transcend dental medication that way.

Look into Kaula Tantra (left hand path of Hinduism). You'll transcend alright.
