Hey I have a problem and I would like it if some of you helped me with it. The fixed rubber bands on my braces got loose because I ate candy when I shouldn't have and so I pulled them out using floss because I couldnt stand having them loose in my mouth. So now they are off. Is that dangerous or bad for my braces that the fixed rubber band is off? You know what Im talking about, the main rubber band that connects your braces. Please help, I dont see my ortho until Tuesday.

I would tell your orthodontist the truth, we always know anyway so why lie about it? You will probably get a little talking to about how you are slowing down your progress by having things break or come off. Just don't do it any more. Look at it like this, for every single day that your braces aren't activated (like right now) it adds two more days to your treatment. Your prolonging your time in braces. Try not to do it anymore and you'll be fine. Good luck with your ortho!

PS: We know your going to eat (the forbidden stuff!) candy, so from now on, try to eat what melts in your (M&M's) mouth "on your tongue," nothing that's going to stick to your orthodontic brackets, bands or wires. Good luck and be careful!

It will be ok for you to wait until Tuesday to get it fixed. You could always call your ortho just to ease your mind.

it isn't dangerous, but be aware that the brackets can be abrasive. And your teeth won't suddenly become messed up or anything, just don't eat food you're not supposed to from now on..(now you know why)

your teeth just won't be moving between now and then.
