I have 2 cats (both 2years old and 16 lbs each). I would like to get a Jack Russell puppy. Can Jack Russells be trained to get along with cats? Or would my cats be in danger?

If you get a puppy, the cats will most likely set the dynamic of the relationship from the beginning. Most cats I know will let the dog know who is in charge from the beginning.
Puppies are a lot easier to train to get along with cats than dogs that are a year old or more. Get a your puppy.
However, if you are really concerned and don't necessarily want a full blooded Jack Russell, contact your humane society for puppies close to the breed.. They will know the puppy can get along with cats or not .

A puppy could be trained to get along. If he grows up around cats then he would get used to them. If it was an adult dog then you might have a problem. I don't think your cats would be in danger.

I don't recommend mixing cats with any terriers. Terriers are hunters which is different than sporting dogs. Terriers were bred to pursue and kill smaller prey. Even tiny Yorkshire Terriers were used to chase small animals down into their holes. Bull Terriers (aka Pitbulls) are at the top of the terrier food chain. All terriers have a killer instinct. That instinct can be arroused inavertantly with disasterous results for cats.

yes you can have a jr pup and this can be trained to get along with your cats
1. put you jack r with a leash in you kitchen where the cat passes thru this may take for a week only.

Goodness yes any dog can be trained to get along with cats, just be firm with it, and also with the cats! they are more likely to attack the pup than the other way around

I have not seen a JRT yet that always gets along with cats, not to say that they do non exist (I just have never seen one).

They MUST be TRAINED to.
The breed was selectively bred for hundreds of years to locate & KILL such vermin! Some can learn the difference between "my" cats & others & just kill the intruders.
