Kids (and adults) often make the mistake of "looking over their notes." This does not help you to find out what you know and what you do not know ahead of time. You need to quiz yourself.

Use the questions at the end of the chapters or sections and see if you can answer them. If you cannot, you do not know the information yet.

Make flashcards of the terms. When you can say the definitions without looking (and even when mixed up), you know it.

This site is really excellent as far as providing more tips: www.mindtools.com. I gave you great ideas, but we all learn differently. If those things do not work for you then use the site above to get a couple more ideas. It gives you tips if you have a list of things to remember, or if you have to learn a certain order of things. It is very helpful.

Organize your materials so that you are studying biological facts that are related to each other at the same time-such as all of the facts about animals or all of the facts about plants together. Start studying well before the date of the test so that you can clear up any ideas that you are not certain about and have a better understanding of the information. Have a friend or a relative test you about some of the facts you think might be asked for during the test so you will be confident that you can answer any possible question on the tests. Avoid negative emotional reactions, get a good night's sleep and get good nutrition the day before the test so that you will be better able to concentrate and to understand the questions in front of you. If you are too tired and stressed out, you will make it more difficult than it really is. Best wishes.
