If we stop our companies from hiring them for low wages, they will not have the need to come here.

I am not a liberal, far from it I am anything but. Judging by your question I can see you have a good idea of what the southern states need; a good size fence with as much defensive qualities and armament as possible. If a liberal has any intensions of responding to this stop right now and look online for Mexico's Southern boarder. See what Mexico does to people if you sneak in over their boarder.

No, we think that it is stupid to waste time and money on things that will not work and that are never going to happen.

The US-Mexico border is the third busiest (in terms of legal commerce) in the world. Without killing that trade, any wall/barrier will come with a thousand built-in holes.

Most importantly, the two big winners from having illegal workers in America are the Mexican government and American business (and, by extension, the US government). The money that Mexican immigrants send back to their families represents the third largest source of income for the Mexican government. The Mexican economy cannot survive without that revenue. American companies recruit inside of Mexico and bring workers into this country themselves (and yes, it is illegal when they do it, too) because it substantially increases their profits.

The immigration issue comes down to this fact - it exists as it does because the governments of Mexico and the United States both want it to exist.

That is the reason it exists, and that is the reason that nothing will ever be done about it.

That is the way it is, so you might as well get used to it. If you think that there is anything you can do about it, you are just wasting your time.

Untrue. If that were true, it would reduce the number of people entering America; but the number keeps increasing. This is not the 1400s (not that walls always worked that great back then either); walls and fences are not going to stop something as large and with the inertia of the immigration issue.

Pedro Ramirez-de la Cruz (AKA Earthman),

Allow me to be the first to commend you on your use of the English language. There is not a single, natural-born, conservative Christian American on all of Yahoo Answers that understands the English language or can write as well as you. I am certain that one day your children will the ones who decide whether uneducated conservatives deserve to be hired or not. I know that they will make the right choice. Congratulations, and welcome to America.

Enforce existing immigration laws! Let Border Patrol agents do their jobs, using force when necessary, without going to jail for doing so. Illegal immigrants are rapidly eroding the education system and health care in this country. I'm not against immigration, but I am against illegals.

To Lawrence.....you call welfare supporting them is making a living????? They get free medical to produce more & more kids, free food w/foodstamps or ebt card, no taxes & taking the jobs @ a lower wage to prevent us from supporting our families. They should be freakin RICH. Build the WALL. I say put them on the front line in Iraq.

Better yet Earthman has just proved all I said.

Yep, build that wall, the sooner the better! Anything that will help to make it harder for them to come illegally is money WELL spent! You know it will help because they wouldn't be so against it if that weren't true.

Mexico has indicated the border fence will work.

I am not a liberal, but I wish we would build a wall.

Being none of the above, I'd opt for explosives. Have a Nice day!

Crap I must be a liberal..........NO.......wait..........I AM a liberal and have NO problem with a wall.......whatever makes the "unsatisfied haters" happy. As long as it shuts them up and they can sit in their lawn chairs watching a fence being built...that they feel will bring them happiness and satisfaction.......let them POP A TOP on that Coors light.

Wouldn't that money be better spent on a few thousand well-trained snipers?
