You'll lose weight slowly. Crash dieting will NOT make you lose weight fast. It would do more damage than good. Stop being lazy! Eat protein first (keeps you fuller longer), eat 5-6 small meals a day, join sports, join a gym, or just walk around the neighborhood with your friends. The weight will then come off the right way.

If you won't eat, you won't lose the weight. When body stops receiving food, it automatically treats that as an emergency and locks in the fat storage. If you want to lose 30 pounds, you have to eat at least 3 times each day; but each time, the food portion must be NOT bigger than the palm of your hand.
Jumping the rope and walking on the stairs will not be enough to lose 30 pounds at 5'5". You can do them only as the maintenance exercises AFTER you have already lose the 30 pounds. Or you can do them as the pre-exercise warm-up.
To lose 30 pounds, you have to be on a treadmill or stair-master exercise machine for 1 hour each day, 5 days per week. If you're on treadmill, the speed must be 4.0 and alternate inclinations every 4 minutes from level 7 to level 15 (4 min. on level 7, then another 4 min. on level 15, then again back to level 7 for another 4 min., and alternate like this for the entire hour.) Most treadmills and stair-masters are pre-programmed, so you won;t have to switch the inclinations levels every 4 min. Do stretching after exercising.
If you do all that, you will lose 20 pounds in 8 weeks. To lose extra 10 pounds, you will have to do that for few more weeks, but the weight-loss will slow down after the first 20 pounds shed.

It wont work. Your metabolism will crash, and your body will hold onto all the weight you have. Or you'll get weak soon and pass out in a day or 2 - way before you'd even see any weight loss.

Keeping your line of thinking in mind, you could restrict your calories to whatever you burn off that day through exercise. 600 (or 800 or 1500) calories that day means you burn off that much exercising. Not necessarily the best idea in the long (or short) run, but it will work and its the answer youre looking for.

Best way to lose weight is by eating. Eat many times but low portions. If you don't eat at all you will get sick.
