The meaning of Faith; belief in something that has no proof; and not wavering in that belief. If you truly BELIEVE you do not need proof, ... that is the meaning of faith.

Only you know if you truly believe. It isn't important that anyone else know or believe YOU; except, maybe, God.

Like it says in the Declaration of Independence, " We hold these truths to be self-evident," some things you just have to accept as true in order to begin making a society, a culture, a way of existing.

Can you prove that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights?

No, you can't. You assert your faith in the principle that it is so and then you can begin making something that can grow and be shared. Is the Bible something that is infallible and perfect? No, it is a book compiled and edited by individuals, committees, and kings. It's content has suffered through the ravages of history. Half of it was written down over four thousand years ago by a faith that still thrives despite generations of persecution and attempted genocide. That it has anything left to give humanity is an amazing testament to its worth.

Why does it take faith to believe The Bible? Because that's what faith does. It allows you to determine for yourself what is true and then it gives you the conviction to follow through with the ideals you have put your faith in. That's why they wrote down the Declaration of Independence after all. It made real the conviction to live according to their beliefs.

If for you The Bible is not the way, the truth, the light, and the words that became flesh and dwelt among men, then go make a better declaration of what you hold to be true (then live up to it). It wouldn't be the first time that happened. Write it down though. Basing your life off of what you feel like doing right now will always make you a servant to those that have a plan. That's the truest secret of how faith moves mountains....or did you think that mountain was just going to walk over by itself?

I would propose that Faith is not an unfounded belief in something, but is the outcome of experience. Biblically, Faith is "the assurance of things hoped for and the evidence of things unseen." (Hebrews 11:1) That is what Faith is, but that faith comes from knowledge and experience.

For example: I am carrying a bowling ball and it slips out of my hands. When this happens, I have faith in two things. The first is that the ball will fall down, the second is that it will hurt if it lands on my toe. I have never before had a bowling ball slip out of my hand and land on my toe. Consequently, having complete trust that the ball will fall down and hurt if it hits my toe is faith.

Why do I have faith in that? Firstly, I've seen the law of gravity work many times. Many times I have dropped many things and they always fall down. An overwhelming amount of experiential evidence tells me this. Secondly, I know that when something hits my toe and is heavy, it tends to hurt. I have dropped bricks, hammers, and furniture on my toes before. I have also dropped feathers, rubber bands, and paper clips on my toes, but they did not hurt. The difference, of course was their weight. So the weight of the bowling ball is enough that I have faith in it being painful.

Faith in the Bible is no different than this. There are a lot of things that the Bible says that are awfully hard to understand and prove. If you are truly willing to accept the possibility that it is true, then read it and compare it to what happens. Ask God to reveal it to you. If He is there, and you are honestly willing to let Him, then He will. Once you have experienced some of what it says, look deeper into it and ask God to help you understand and experience that.

God is not a God of blind belief and unthinking fervor. He is the God who says: "'Come now, and let us reason together', Says the LORD..." (Isaiah 1:18a)

well... much of it has been disproved already such as creation. the bible was written when there was little technology and big imagination. when religion was created it was a hypothesis on how we die. people believed so long because of muhammed, which was the prophet of the muslim bible who god spoke tho directly through the archangel gabriel. now all the bible is is a book on christian mythology. because there is no proof there is a god, no one belives. therefore no faith.

Because that is the way the Author set it up and has dictated that it will be that way. The Bible states that each person is given "a measure of faith" and, without faith it is IMPOSSIBLE to please God. How you use that freeby is totally up to the individual. Personally, I wouldn't squander it.

You have to start with at least these two unsupported assumptions:

That there is a God.

That God "inspired" the writing of the Bible.

Since neither of those assumptions can be conclusively proved, belief requires faith.

Faith and ignorance. There's a whole world of logic that must be ignored in order to believe in the bible. This takes quite an extreme amount of will power.

The Bible is a historical book so there are many books you can read and believe without supernatural faith. It takes faith to trust in the God of the Bible and apply the faith lessons it teaches to your life effectively. Without faith it is impossible to please God.

A two-year-old boy was once staring at a heater, fascinated
by its bright orange glow. His father saw him and warned,
“Don’t touch that heater, son. It may look pretty, but it’s
hot.” The little boy believed him, and moved away from the heater.
Some time later, after his father had left the room, the boy thought, “I wonder if it really is
hot.” He then reached out to touch it and see for himself. The second his flesh burned, he
stopped believing it was hot; he now knew it was hot! He had moved out of the realm of belief
into the realm of experience.
Christians believed in God’s existence before their conversion. However, when they obeyed
the Word of God, turned from their sins, and embraced Jesus Christ, they stopped merely believing.
The moment they reached out and touched the heater bar of God’s mercy, they moved out
of belief into the realm of experience. This experience is so radical, Jesus referred to it as being
“born again.”
The Bible says that those who don’t know God are spiritually dead (Ephesians 2:1; 4:18). We
are born with physical life, but not spiritual life. Picture unbelievers as corpses walking around
who, by repenting and placing their faith in Christ, receive His very life. There is a radical difference
between a corpse and a living, breathing human, just as there is when sinners pass from
spiritual death to life. The apostle Paul said if you are “in Christ,” you are a brand new creature
(2 Corinthians 5:17).
Those who now have God’s Spirit living in them will love what He loves and desire to do His
will; they will have a hunger for His Word, a love for other believers, and a burden for the lost.
The Holy Spirit also confirms in their spirit that they are now children of God (Romans 8:16).
Those who believe on the name of the Son of God can know that they have eternal life (1 John
5:12,13).
Paul wrote to the church at Corinth, “My speech and my preaching were not with enticing
words of man’s wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: that your faith should
not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God” (1 Corinthians 2:4,5). What Paul was
saying was, “I deliberately didn’t talk you into your faith, but I let God’s power transform you.”
He didn’t reach them through an intellectual assent, but through the realm of personal experience.
Suppose two people—a heater manufacturer and a skin specialist—walked into the room
just after that child had burned his hand on the heater. Both assured the boy that he couldn’t
possibly have been burned. But all the experts, theories, and arguments in the world will not dissuade
that boy, because of his experience.
Those who have been transformed by God’s power need never fear scientific or other arguments,
because the man with an experience is not at the mercy of a man with an argument.
“For our gospel came not to you in word only, but also in power, and in the Holy Spirit, and in
much assurance. . .” (1 Thessalonians 1:5).
