Disregard the first answerer. That's not the correct way. You didn't say how old the cat is. If he's young, he might grow out of it. My 4 and a half year old bit quite a bit and quite hard as a kitten. He does bite some still, but it's not very hard and in a playful way. Just tell your niece to be gentle and not to initiate the cuddles, at least not right now. Let the cat come to her.

It is most likely love nips!! That means the cat loves the person. But if it makes her bleed then she just plain hates her. Or feels threatened around her. Maybe get her use to her or maybe she plays with the cat the way the cat doesn't like to play. So she what she does with the cat when it bites.

That depends on where it bites. You can try putting hot spice on the places he bites so it'll associate bitting with a bad experience. Age is also a factor since it is not easy to teeach an older cat.

Cats are smart animals I bet it'll respond properly to rewarding whenever it acts correctly.

Godd luck.

My cat used to bite, but then I got him fixed and he stopped. Otherwise, he will probably grow put of it.
