My 6 yr. old daughter asked me if Jesus wanted to die. I told her no, but that he knew it was his destiny. She said, "Then Judas didn't do a bad thing, did he?" I had no clue how to answer her! I've turned this over and over in my mind and tried to research it and I still don't know how to answer her! Anyone got any answers?

It was Jesus's destiny to die and that was the plan but Judas was still wrong because he didn't know about Jesus's plan to die. Judas made a conscious decision to sell him out to the Romans for 30 pieces of silver. Jesus said it was better that Judas wasn't even born for doing what he did!

Judas betrayed Jesus even though he knew who He was and witnessed all His miracles. He did an unforgiveable evil. Just because God worked that into accomplishing His plan for Jesus to be sacrificed for the world, doesn't mean he did a good thing.

Jimguyy - I believe the reason Judas killed himself is because Jesus said to them speaking of his betrayer that it would have been better for that man if he was never born. I take that to mean, and I think Judas did, too, that he couldn't be forgiven. Otherwise Jesus wouldn't have said that.

Judas was part of the plan, so he did a good thing, for without him, the plan wouldnt have worked and Jesus wouldnt have died for anyones sins

same goes for anyone else chosen to deceive him

so tell me then, If Judas hadnt have betrayed Jesus, how else was he supposed to die for our sins?

your daughter is very wise indeed

EDIT: It was Jesus' destiny to die, so therefore, if it wasnt Judas, it would have been someone or something else...it was the plan, therefore, how much control did Judas actually have I ask you?

You might go to Scripture.Matt 26:24 makes it quite clear that what Judas did was not good.

Judas turned an innocent man over to those who wanted to hurt him.

That is a bad thing.

All Judas had to do was go and ask Jesus to forgive him. It was not an unforgivable sin. Instead he let the devil talk him into suicide and then it after this it was too late.

Your daughter is wise beyond her years.

Now ask yourself, from the research that you performed....did Judas act by himself (freewill) or did he not have a choice (god's plans). Then ask yourself what kind of god would do this? Then ask yourself if this is the type of god that is worthy of worship.

The scales fall from the eyes of those who ask questions.
