The Catholic Church has been agressive in asking the US government to give amnesty to illegal aliens, and they have been providing sanctuary to illegal aliens. Of course, most of the illegal aliens are devout Catholics. I doubt that the Catholic Church would want amnesty for illegal aliens if the majority of the aliens were Muslim or Hindu.

I believe they should stick to promoting their religion, and stay out of politics. What say you?

Created in the image of the one God and equally endowed with rational souls, all men have the same nature and the same origin. Redeemed by the sacrifice of Christ, all are called to participate in the same divine beatitude: all therefore enjoy an equal dignity.

The Catholic Church supports human rights and humane immigration law, not crime.

This is a moral issue not just a political one.

You shall not oppress an alien; you well know how it feels to be an alien, since you were once aliens yourselves in the land of Egypt. (Exodus 23:9)

The émigré Holy Family of Nazareth, fleeing into Egypt, is the archetype of every refugee family. Jesus, Mary and Joseph, living in exile in Egypt to escape the fury of an evil king, are, for all times and all places, the models and protectors of every migrant, alien and refugee of whatever kind who, whether compelled by fear of persecution or by want, is forced to leave his native land, his beloved parents and relatives, his close friends, and to seek a foreign soil. (Exsul Familia, Pope Pius XII, 1952)

"Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free, The wretched refuse of your teeming shore. Send these, the homeless, tempest-tost to me, I lift my lamp beside the golden door!" (The Statue of Liberty)

The earth, this country, everything we have are gifts from God, which we are called to share with our brothers and sisters in Christ.

With love in Christ.

I think that the Catholic Church should be able to support their illegal members. However, like it has already been said if they are going to get involved in the politics they should lose their tax exempt status, and become a pro-amnesty political organization.

There is a point past which, if a religious organization gets involved in politics, they lose their tax exempt status. I think the Catholic Church in LA passed that point on Wednesday when it counseled those getting ashes for Ash Wednesday that they should fast for a day in support of amnesty for illegal immigrants.

I agree with you.
If the catholic church wants to support illegal aliens, let them support them with cash, and get the illegal aliens off the public dole.
If the catholic church want to butt into politics, making comments on immigration policy, it's time for the catholic church to lose it's exempt status, and call itself what it is, a political organization, not a religious one.

I don't agree, I think religion shapes morality and beliefs, I'm sure they'll help anybody out. Religion, no matter what, will always be in politics, again because of the issue of morality and beliefs. I'm glad they support amnesty.

We must all keep in mind, that what they want is not just to do a good deed. They want numbers and money. Most illegal aliens are Catholic, so its all about #s, and $$$$$$$$$$$.

Muslim terrorism compared to Catholic terrorism (supporting a crime that is harboring illegal invaders), I see little difference, as the long term affect of this nation is concerned. You could say "WWJD" and you could also say "kill em' all and let God sort them out. Now which extreme are you? From what the illegals are saying and doing at their demonstrations, it's obvious which way they slant compared to Americans on the meter. Although Muslim terrorist peg the meter on the hate gauge.
