So our children are on the journey with us. I can look back (and she is only seven) and see 'mistakes'. Is this normal? i don't regret my journey. I am glad I am becoming a better parent (and am a good parent). So how to make peace with the past errors?

You would not be doing all the right things now with out making the mistakes before.

Just learn from it. Your daughter probably doesn't remember your "mistakes", but if it's ongoing you can change it. I'm a totally different mother with #3 than I was with #1, 11 years difference. You do change as you get older (not all of it is necessarily good I might add).

You just do...you did the best you could with what you knew and had....and now you know different and do different. AND you take the time to explain it to your child once they reach a reasonable age to understand. I always wish I could re-do my son's infanthood....I would be so much more relaxed than I was...less nervous, less stressed, maybe more loving....but I can't re-do it....so we just have to do what we can NOW.
