We moved into the house we currently live in a little over a year ago. I am not expecting much in my tax returns, but I am noticing on my W2's that city taxes were not taken out. How do I find out how much I owe in order to avoid being audited? I don't want to pay someone to do my taxes, I hardly worked last year.

Sparkles doesn't seem to realize that some cities have an income tax. NYC is one, I'm sure there are others.

I'm sure the city has some tax form that will help you estimate it, but since you didn't tell us what city, I can't tell you which form you need.

first find out if there is any income tax on income earned while living in the city. Only if the answer is yes you need to consider paying city taxes.

City taxes normally don't come out of your paycheck. You pay city taxes on real property. Like if you own the house, and not rent then you probably owe taxes. Or depending on where you live you might own taxes on your car. But all in all, if you owe city/town taxes they would have contacted you by now telling you how much you owed.
