Stone age didn't end because we ran out of stones; it ended because we found more efficient and poweful materials. Similarly do you know any fuel source cheapr, cleaner, and more poweful than gasoline?

There are fuel sources that are cheaper, but not cleaner. There are sources that a cleaner, but they are not cheaper. There are fuel more powerful than gasoline, but they come with their own problem: hydrogen is costly, requires huge tanks, or needs to be chilled to -253 C. Or alternate fuel are simply too volatile and dangerous.
Gasoline is nearly just perfect, except for its greenhouse gas production. But eventually, we will make gasoline from biomass, nullifying its ecological footprint (it will be balanced by the plants capturing the CO2, plants used to make the next batch of biofuel).

The best and safest fuel is oil made from plants grown for that purpose. This is not being done at this but at some point in the future it will be done because it is simply the best way to have abundant low cost fuel for everyone who needs or wants it. The source of this energy BTY is solar energy so its very, very clean too. We are in the stoneage now as far as energy is concerned.

tesla said there was an alternate energy source we dont use. but since it is all around us it would be difficult to tax and dole out. gas is hard to make and easy to keep an eye on. thats why we are allowed to use it.

I think nuclear fusion, not to be confused with fission which we already have, will be the power source of the future.
