Flat irons are pretty good just don't keep them on to long. Use a good conditioner to keep hair healthy.

Well, save up your money and buy a thermal heat straightener. It might cost extra but, it helps not to damage your curly hair. If you are still having problems with straightness or coarseness use straight hair shampoo.
You can also use a Paul Mitchell product to help the frizzies and help not put as much damage on your hair.

I KNOW I HAVE CURLY HAIR THAT MOST OF THE TIME WONT GET STRAIGHT. NOW MY ADVICE TO YOU IS DONT USE TO MUCH GREASE, ESPECIALLY IN ONE SPOT. I NOTICED THAT WHEN I DO THAT IT JUST MAKES MATTERS WORSE. UMM, ANOTHER THING YOU COULD DO IS WASH IT AND THEN MAYBE OIL YOUR SCALP WHEN YOU FINISHED DRYING IT. AND THEN AFTER THAT STEP STRAIGHTEN IT W/ A FLAT IRON, HOT COMB, STRAIGTENING COMB. I KNOW THAT WORKS ALSO! MY LAST ADVICE FOR YOU IS THAT YOU COULD WRAP YOUR HAIR OVER NIGHT AND USE OIL SHEEN IN THE PROCESS. BUT A BONNET OR SCARF OVER IT, SLEEP ON IT, THEN COMB OR BRUSH IT OUT AND IT SHOULD BECOME STRAIGHT BUT WITH A BUMP CURL @ THE END. IF ALL ELSE FAILS GO TO THE SALON, GET IT STRAIGHTENED AND ASK FOR TIPS!......I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU!

I recommend a good quality ceramic straightener. They aren't cheap but they wont damage your hair no matter how often you straiten it. They are good for all hair types (wavy, curly, etc.) and textures (fine, thick, coarse, etc.)

buy a pair of GHDs from your local salon, and heat defense spray - VERY IMPORTANT or you're hair will fry (available from all chemists and supermarkets). if you dont like the straight look you can also curl your hairs with GHDs.

use a hair protector spray for using heat on your hair. also when you use conditionor, dont wash it all out because when you straighten it it will use the conditionor and not burn your hair.
