my husband has 5 children by ex's and wants a tattoo with the kids
represented in it portrites are out of the question. any ideas?

there are tons of things that could be done. hopefully one day when i have kids i'll have them draw a picture and have that tattooed on me. but he could always get hand prints or baby footprints from when they were little. always very cute. maybe more feasible since he has five kids.

How about just their names in a nice script on his chest over his heart that way it and they will always be close to his heart and the script can be as big or small as you want, I like the portrait idea but understand 5 is alot room wise and expense wise.

Maybe some sort of setting (like a meadow, or a representation of their favorite place or hometown)-- with each child shown as their favorite item (like an animal or an angel or the like).
I feel like I am not describing this very well. For example, if it was me, I would choose Disneyland (our favorite place), with each child shown as their favorite character.
Or maybe a cloud with each child as a small angel.
