Why do I need to change them every two weeks. Is it okay if I wear them for a long period of time? What is the worst case scenario?

I've worn contacts for many many years and I always wear my disposables for a heck of a lot longer than 2 weeks! I usually don't sleep in them but sometimes I do and if I don't take them out and clean them my vision will be cloudy. Occasionally, my eye will get sore or feel funny from the contacts so I'll take them out and give my eyes a rest before I put them back in. Other than that, no serious negative effects from wearing my disposables a LOT longer than 2 weeks.

When I first got mine, the doctor said to change them every two weeks so I did. Now, I don't sleep with them in and I do clean them, but I do wear them much longer than two weeks now. The worst case scenario would probably be an eye infection, but I've never had one.

I have wore contacts for many years. I also wear the 2 week disposable ones and I have worn my for about a month before throwing them away and putting in new ones, however, if you wear them longer than 2 weeks you are at a greater chance for eye infections since you can't clean them like you would regular ones. If you decide to wear them longer get a mulit purpose solution instead of just regular solution that doesn't clean as well. I would suggest talking to your eye doctor about getting the contacts that you can wear longer because you don't want to lose your eyesight or get any eye infections because they suck!!!

Every eye doctor will say you shouldn't. I have 2 week contacts, though, and I rarely change them unless they get torn or I lose one. I have never had a problem and my vision has been fine. All you have to do is take them out every night and clean them.

You can wear them for long periods of time. I've worn them for a weekend while hunting and forgetting my solution. The only problem is slightly blurry vision for around ten minutes after waking up.

No, it's not a good idea to wear disposables for longer than the allotted time. They are disposable for a reason. Most of those lenses are made to last only a certain time and after that period, they are way more susceptible to holding unhealthy dirt and whatnot. Basically, they don't work the way they were supposed to.

The Dr with tell you not to, but i wear mine for longer. I don't sleep in them. Worst Case Scenario would probably be getting an eye infection.

I have 1 month contacts that I've worn up to 2 months. The worst thing that ever happened it that they got a little bit worn out, making my vision a little blurry late at night, and I had to rub them with solution everyday to prevent buildup. But overall, it's fine, just slightly uncomfortable after a while.

Most people wear them longer if they are meticulous on care and maintenance. If you do this and have an infection, you could lose your eyesight so at the first sign of discomfort take action.

I tried that and ended up with hypoxia, which was misdiagnosed and treated as conjuntivitis. This lead to permanent vision loss in that eye ( and it was pretty painful too.)
