To judge anything by appearance is completely natural--

Which apple will you eat? The one that looks rotten or healthy and ripe?

Now --I'm not saying that condemning people is right-- And if someone's judgements are proven wrong, then the person should accept that and be willing to admit he was wrong.

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. " --Here Jesus isn't saying "Don't judge" What he is saying is, how you judge people is how you will be judged--therefore it is better for most people not to judge, because they cannot be "fair" judges.

I have this really bad habit myself! I hate myself when I think that someone "looks" really mean and then turns out to be very nice! I really ought to stop this habit! I know I haven't really answered your question, but for some, it's just human nature, or maybe a defense mechanism.

I'm sure most of us don't want to pass judgement before getting to know a person, but it is something that happens naturally. The important thing is that you not treat the person negatively, unless they give you a reason to.
