I am afraid to show love because I think it will make me look foolish. I am getting sick of people telling me I am weak for being afraid of love because most people I have read about that were soldiers like me were as tough as hell and didn't have love get in their way. I tried getting over the fear, but I can't get rid of the fear, no matter what anyone says. You can call me weak for being afraid of love, but I will never change, so it's not worth it.

Being afraid of love doesn't make you weak. But it certainly doesn't make you a strong person either! You are foolish. Foolish to deprive yourself of one of the few things in life that is pure and beautiful and natural and perfect! Getting over a fear of this nature is a slow process - one that you should partake in alone! Sounds strange, I know. But if you meet someone and suddenly fall head over heels without control you could end up being very hurt. I would start by deciding what it is in life that you love; people, family, places, things you've done, etc. Then figure out why you love them and why you feel it is safe and ok for you to love them. This will help give yourself permission to expand on the things and people you love. Then venture out and meet people who are worthy of your love. Keep in mind that being in love, even only one time, and somehow losing that love is more satisfying than living a loveless life! Good luck!

Perhaps it's not love you fear but rejection and loss of self-esteem in unsuccesful love.
Men who look and feel most foolish in love are those who propose and are rejected and spurned by the lady they desire.
You don't have to be a soldier to fear such rejection. Plenty of men who never served in the army are also afraid like that. And they are afraid for a good reason too. Men often go through a lot of humiliating and painful rejections before they find a lady whom they like and who likes them back.
I suggest that you try using the internet to find a lady you like. The internet allows people to get to know each other in a calm and reasonable way. And when romance isn't working out on the internet, then rejection isn't nearly as painful as it is in person.
Also, single men from rich western countries are highly desirable in some asian countries as good men to marry. And if you happen to travel to a country like that and meet some young women there, then you'll be the one who will have to reject attractive women a lot. Perhaps you can try that. At least it will boost your self-esteem.

You will show love to the correct person. You can't force yourself to show love to someone that you don't care about. Besides everyone shows their love in a different way, we all can't be gushy and gross like the movies show all the time.

Dude there is no stopping love. You can't control whether you love someone or not, so the fact that you fear love will not prevent you from loving someone.
