In my local newspaper today it states that the humane society of the U.S. said it purchased coats from Nordstrom, Andrew Marc, Tommy H and more and found that they were trimmed with fur from domestic dogs. Even though the fur was avertized as fake. Most comes from China although the racoon dog fur comes from Finland. The raccoon dogs (These look like oversized, fluffy raccoons) are killed routinely by stomping them, beating them, or skinning them alive. Video posted on the internet from Swiss Animal Protection shows dogs clubbed or slammed on the ground some writhing, gasping and blinking as they are skinned alive. Besides buying NOTHING with anything that even closely resembles fur what else can we do? There must be something that we can do. Any ideas?

I guess I should've also told you that Tommy h. Stopped selling the fur trimmed garment. Nordstroms called the 62 consumers that pruchased vests with dog fur trim to give them an oppourtunity to return the vest and said they will no long buy fur trimmed products from that vendor who had marketed the vests as vaux fur. Andrew Marc disputed the Humane Society and insisted in a statement that all fur on his coats labeled as raccoon are "only farm bred raccoon fur from Finland" I had also said that the raccoon dog was from Finland but I guess I read that wrong. I'm trying to skim the article as its so graphic.

This is abhorrent news. To think that dogs are being killed for coats is atrocious. You are right, about the only thing we can do is to stop buying any coat with fur on it. They leave us no choice.

Isn't it pathetic? People nowadays don't take into consideration that an animal feels things too just as much as we do. Personally I like real animal fur on coats, but I would never buy it from a corprate piece of sh*t place like Nordstroms who doesn't give a damn about how animals are treated cause they are making money off the product. I live in a family where we go hunting and we use every bit of what we killed, from meat, ofal, to the hide, but we never bludgen a poor helpless animal, that's cruel and unthinkable. If I knew where these places were, I'd go in there Mr. Rogers style and f*ck those people up. Give them a dose of their own medicine.

Not believe set up hype. It is awful what they are taping and taking pictures of and then we find out the ones exposing it are the ones doing it as they are desperate for proof and there is none.

The coats are real, but everything we wear is from plants and animals, even the man made stuff. The building blocks of life thing.

A raccoon dog is actually not related to domestic dogs at all. Even though this is not the point, it is an important distinction here. They are related to actual raccoons. I personally would not wear animal fur but I am also not getting stirred up by a lot of fanatical animal rights activists that fake this by harming the animals themselves to film "their" version of the truth.

We can ignore these "nuts" for they are actually and truly as nutty as religious fanatics that act as terrorists. We just call this kind echo(logy)-terrorists. We can refuse to wear fake or real fur as we cannot tell the difference and then it will not be used in clothing that does not sell.

Remember that those videos you see are of the fur nuts beating animals to prove that what they espouse is true. This is proven and exposed over and over and over again.

Remember what we did for the poor seals being clubbed for their fur? Well, why couldn't we do something like that. Get the Humane Society to start a petitition to the various offending governments telling them we will not by any fur products from their country until they stop the horrible, inhuman procedures for killing dogs for their fur. Get em in their pocketbook where it really hurts them. If its not a Humane Society thing, I bet you and your friends could get together and get a petition together re: this behavior and send it to the countries that are the baddies.
