I might be only 15, but I've noticed at school, home, and in public places.. more guys act so disrespectful to us. I've seen guys at my school hit girls.. (ended up getting there *ss kicked, but still..) I've heard it's not even appropriate to curse in front of a girl. Is this just talk or what?

I never really noticed this until this last month when my boyfriend punched his best friend out for talking sexually about me and my boyfriend. And the second time for calling me a b*tch.

Are they becoming more disrespectful.. or what?

Are you being the kind of strong woman that you need to be? I don't think that a person DEMMANDS respect - you COMMAND respect by being a person of character and dignity and conducting youself in a manner that will cause people to treat you with that respect that you deserve! Nobody deserves to be addressed with those names, and violence is never the answer to your problems. Be a "quality individual" first - and you will COMMAND the respect that's due to you! People who treat you badly and don't behave like civilized human beings, are just being ignorant! Stay strong!

Unfortunately, there are some males who totally disrespect females. Many of them become callous toward females because they see us only as sex objects. Not all males are that way, however. Frequently, some females are the direct cause of the disrespect given to them and to females as a group: Mindless sexual conduct in the wrong places at inappropriate times, explicit nudity and the public display of breasts, vaginas, buttocks and female gender-specific body parts constantly in the mass media, and the docile acceptance of mistreatment by males on a daily basis and other behaviors that show low self esteem are notorious things females do to perpetuate this kind of disrespect from males. This is widespread and Yes. Some males are becoming more disrespectful because they are not being taught how to behave respectfully.

Society in the United States continues to reach new lows in mutual respect. There are instances each day that would rarely if ever have happened years ago. When you encounter someone who is respectful of you as a human being it is actually somewhat surprising these days. Misogyny specifically has increased and is alarming. The explanations could/would take days to sort out and quite frankly would offend America's Political Correctness Police......that conversation will not take place. Referring to a woman as a ***** or a whore should still be offensive, yet I have heard women refer to themselves in such a way. Your boyfriend's heart is in the right place. I believe violence does not solve that issue. There is a more noble way to solve the issue. Loss of mutual respect is puzzling and yes, it does seem to be increasing.

Nah, I think it's always been like that. I mean, in all honesty, I've lost some respect for women in general, because I feel in love with a girl, who just wants to sleep around with the best looking guys she can, and won't even consider me as a boyfriend.

I don't tolerate disrespect women, and you boyfriend sounds like a really good guy.

Men/boys in general definately have less respect for girls/women nowadays it seems. There are alot of things in society that contributes to that...tv, movies, porn..etc. Women dress more provocative then the used to..wearing things that are barely there...more nudity on television, so they feel that if they dress like tha they can call them slutty or whores..etc. I think that also..women have more power nowadays, and that can scare some men..and then they feel the need to put down women in order to make himself feel more powerful. There are alot of different reasons guys are more prone to putting down women these days.
BUT..not ALL men are dogs haha! I actually am with a man that is extremely respectful of women..if he seen a guy disrespect a women..child..the elderly..he go say something..
He opens every door for me...doesnt swear alot around me, doesnt check out other girls when hes with me..he knows how to make me feel like a lady. Call him a goody goody, but its so nice to be with someone so old fashioned..i didnt know that it was possible for men like that to exist anymore..but they do.

Boys in school act in an immature nature because they are. Some are raised better than others, but you'll never really know a guy unless you see him with his buddies when there's no women around.
Personally, I was always very respectul to women, but I was raised well. Soe guys are never taught to treat women right, and you'd better believe that if their father is mean to their mother then they are probably ruined for life, barring a miracle.

Guys that age are cocky and want to prove they are above everybody and to do that they try to bring everybody down. When they become more mature you'll see a noticeable difference in their behavior.... I hope.
