Really watch what you eat, but do not diet as in just lose weight. As hard as this sounds sometimes people do not pay attention to what they eat. You may eat a few meals a day, but if you are eating fast food and other things then you will be very surprised at how much weight you gain or if you are drinking sodas. Pay attention to the portions you do eat. Sometimes people (thin or overweight) do not pay attention. Also, though you go to school, you may not be getting the exercise you need. Pay attention to the amount of calories you are taking in each day. As a growing teen you will need a certain amount of calories more. Also, as you are growing you may get taller and start to thin out so as for dieting it may not be good. Always talk to your doctor before even thinking about dieting. Also, you may need to have the doctor check your thyroid function. It is not often you see it in teens but there are many cases. You have to really evaulate your active lifestyle and what you take in. I am 230 pounds so I definitly know about being overweight. I am 5'7 and was 275 before pregnancy due to an undiagnosed thyroid problem. As soon as my medication started regulating my thyroid I lost a significant amount of weight. I have always eaten healthy, never eaten fast food, do not drink drinks with high fructose corn syrup (even in fruits I only get it in juice only) and pay close attention to what I have eaten. I have had a thyroid problem since I was 10. It was always assumed I was just fat because I did not watch what I ate, but anyone who knows me knows how active I am. It is easy to assume it is just by lifestyle and it may be the case but it is just not always true.

U don't have to go on a diet just slow down on eating. Your supposed to be at least 130lb. No your not short for your age because I'm 13 and I'm 5'3 also. If u want to get taller, don't start lifting weights until u turn about 18 cause the heaviness slows u down, eat vitamins, drink water, and eat fruits & vegtables okay?

About 50 lbs , but you can take it down . Just start walking and moving . Cut down on fast foods . Get plenty of sleep and eat a lot of fresh fruits and veg's . No fried foods and cut your meals in half . You'll be surprised how fast it will come off at your age . In 8 to 12 weeks you'll see a big difference
