My 2 month old daughter is a very happy - go lucky little girl and smart beyond words but, everytime she wakes up, whether after naps or in the moring after a full nights sleep, she cries, like she's in pain or something. She's usually back to normal after a 5-10 minute cuddling session(which I love) but why is this happening? Is it a litte extreme or am I just seeing it as more than it really is?

she could be having night terrors or just having bad dreams prior to waking up. Or she could have woke up to a strange noise that scared her. i wouldn't worry about her crying everytime though, just comfort her like you do and it should pass soon once she realizes you are always going to be there for her. goodluck

Maybe that's just how she wakes up? Our 13 month old is extremely laid back and really happy go lucky, too, but when she wakes up crying after naps or in the morning, it usually means she hasn't got enough sleep. She has usually wakes up because she is hungry. I really don't know what to do except feed her and put her back to bed. Sometimes, she only sleeps another 15 minutes, but then she wakes up giggling. She gets about 11 1/2 hours of sleep at night and a 1 hour nap in the morning, a 1 1/2 hour in the afternoon. Maybe your baby isn't getting enough sleep?

She might be scared when she is alone, just comfort her and let her get associated with her environment before picking her up, she will get used to the Idea of being alone and being safe. My niece had the same problem, she would cry the second she realized she was alone when she woke up, but a soon as someone came over to her she would stop. My sister tried everything and then decided to just see what happens if she didn't pick her up right away but comforted her and it worked, after about 3 of these she was fine.

Check with your doctor but it sounds like night terrors. Both of my daughters were diagnosed with night terrors; they would cry really loud when they first woke up and nothing I did seemed to make it better. They just had to "snap out of it" on their own. Thankfully they both have out grown it.

She might have had a bad dream that upset her. I know my niece used to have that too they called it night terrors. You might want to talk to her pediatrician about it though just to know for sure. Good luck.

when she is asleep she is on her own.so she will wake up alone, and feel insecure so when you pick her up and she calms down she feels warm and safe agin its the reassurance of your smell and warm you give her
