Short Term Memory Loss(STML) is caused by any number of factors.

1.) A side effect of medication - Check with your doctor/pharmacist.

2.) Stress/anxiety - There are effective ways to deal/cope with stress and anxiety, such as meditation/relaxation techniques or simply talking with someone that can help you address the root cause(s)

3.)Illness(es) - Talk with your doctor, or other health care professional, who can help you alleviate the symptoms and/or stress(es) associated with said illness(es).

Try some of the games they make, little portable games for under $50 or $60. Just exercising the brain can sometimes help short-term memory.
