salmonella in peanut butter

Salmonella tends to cause severe diarrhea, which can cause dehydration and electrolyte disturbances. This could be dangerous to her and the baby. She should get some supportive care and possibly antibiotics (if appropriate), but you might also want to have the peanut butter checked to make sure that's the problem. As long as you treat the presenting symptoms and she's otherwise healthy you should be OK.

Emergency room. Save the peanut butter jar and put it in a plastic bag.

Later, when she is safe, call the peanut butter company and tell them what she has and give them the number off the bottle; so other people will not get sick.

I just read a newspaper article and they said if you are sick and may have eaten peanut butter call your doctor and if you have the jar still take it with you to the office or ER to get it tested

I'd say get to an ER immediately. No matter weather you had proof or not the dr's will find out what's wrong (if it indeed was the salmonella poisoning or not) and moniter the baby.

No its completely safe to eat peanut butter when your pregnant. It is unsafe to give P.P to a child under 1. Your wife is fine!!!!!! Don't stress the baby will be fine too.

She's probably fine.If you are concerned though, your best bet is to contact your doctor.. AND CALL THE PEANUT BUTTER COMPANY AND PUT IN A COMPLAINT. the sooner th better.
