When I was 18 years old one night I went out with my friends and somebody in the discotheque drugged me with LSD. It was horrible. I went straight to the hospital and was unconcious for a while. Today I am 33 years old and have suffered from depression, anxiety and panic attacks for 5 years. I have heard that these mental illnesses are caused by an imbalance in brain neurotrasmiters. Can that one time (of being drugged with LSD) caused this imbalance. How long does LSD stay in your system (body)? Does LSD affect brain neurotrasmiters?

Hi Argon,
It might not be in your case because determining what causes anxiety/panic disorder in the first place is not perfected yet. Meaning no one can explain the individuals etiology or cause/es of the disorder. In you case it could be several reasons for your anxiety/panic. To answer your question Yes it is possible from doing LSD to develop Anxiety disorder. Even after just one time use. In fact some people report an onset of GAD (generalized anxiety disorder) from just one use of marijuana. The long term damage caused to the brain(physical and chemical imbalance) even long after the introduction of LSD is due to the long term effects of free radical damage long after the LSD is no longer in your system. Besides going to your Doctor and or Psych for long term treatment(due to your 5 years of anxiety and panic) you can go to GNC and ask for the best anti oxidants on the market. Anti oxidents are free radical scavengers and render them powerless to destroy. The strongest one i know of is called melatonin and can only be taken at bedtime, its great!! GNC brand is the best.
God Bless you

Sounds like the after effects of long time spped use I did. it was only 10 years but Im left with the same mental damage. I found without the proper meds and help, I just cant have a happy life. If I could turn things backwards I would have never used any drugs. In hopes that I would never have these problems. There are so many people in recovery that are new and old timers that have the same mental problems, I think that the using and brain damage is for real! good luck

no, you probably had anxiety before... why else would your acid trip be "horrible"? unless you see trails to this day, the answer is no.
